December was warmer than normal, with below average precipitation and snowfall.
The average high temperature was 40.4 degrees and the average low temperature was 25.9 degrees. The mean of 33.4 was 3.6 degrees above normal.
The highest temperature was 55 degrees on December 27 and the lowest temperature was 14 degrees on the last day of the month.
Precipitation was again low with 2.90 inches. That is 0.83 inches below normal or 78 percent of average. This is the 10th out of 12 months with below average precipitation. February and October were the only months in 2014 with above normal precipitation.
Snowfall was only 5.9 inches. Average December snow is 13.8 inches.
January 2014 was coldest in the past 24 years.    
January was also the snowiest month of the year. However, in recent years, snow in January has decreased and February snowfall has increased.
January now averages 15.7 inches and February averages 15.9 inches.

Total rainfall for 2014 on Stamping Creek was 45.3 inches.
Snowfall for the 2014-2015 season so far is 17 inches.
