Dale Leo Bennett, age 88, of Marlinton, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 6, 2016, at his home.

Born December 5, 1927, he was a son of the late Lee M. and Alta L. Collins Bennett.

Dale was a 1946 graduate of Richwood High School. He served in the United States Army in Korea. He studied at Tennessee Temple Bible School, Tennessee Temple College, Glenville State College and received a Master’s Degree from West Virginia University. He taught school in Greenbrier, Nicholas and Pocahontas counties. Over the years, Dale preached in several churches, including Cass Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Don H. Bennett.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn R. Taylor Bennett; a daughter, Linda J. Rood, of Marlinton; two sons, Lee M. Bennett, and wife, Cindy, of Caldwell, and Terry L. Bennett, and wife, Dr. Sarita Bennett, of Charlottesville, Virginia; a sister, Jean L. Ring, of Santa Barbara, California; eight grandchildren, Luke, Kristen, Isaac, Cyrus, Stephen, Gregory, Colin and Caitlyn; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends Saturday, August 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lantz Funeral Home in Buckeye. Per his wishes, the body will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care, 169 Diamond Street, Elkins, WV 26241.
