Pocahontas County High School seniors were recognized at the Awards Ceremony May 27 for their achievements in the CTE – Career and Technical Education.

Of the 77 seniors graduating this year, 33 of them completed in at least one CTE program.

The following awards were presented:

College Credit – Students scoring above a 70 percent on the NOCTI are eligible for three hours of college credit in their respective fields.

Students that complete the course will earn five credit hours through New River. The students complete several lessons, quizzes, tests and skills throughout the course and must complete a minimum of 10 field patient contacts.

Students also take a state psychomotor examination where they will be evaluated on their skill proficiency and knowledge prior to being eligible to set for the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic certification.

New River also provides the students with BLS certifications, hazardous materials awareness, mass casualty incident 1 and 2, and a state protocol review, making the students field ready after passing their examination.
