Clarence Shearer

Clarence “Soup” Shearer, age 88, of Marlinton, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022, at Carilion Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.

Born April 4, 1934, at Marlinton, he was a son of the late Harry Walter and Minnie Virginia Sharp Shearer.

Clarence was a retired logger.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Junior, Ralph and Raleigh Shearer; sisters, Rachel Potter, Oleta Scruggs, Grace Miller, Jane Friel and Betty Wamsley.

He is survived by his wife, Goldie Maxine Schoolcraft Shearer; daughters, Bonnie Jean Puffenbarger, Barbara Sue Mitchell; son, Richard Allen Shearer; sisters, Dorothy Shearer and Sally Shearer; 12 grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was held Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Edray Cemetery with Pastor David McCall officiating.

Arrangements were handled by VanReenen Funeral Home in Marlinton.
