According to Pocahontas County Circuit Court Clerk Connie Carr, the following cases were heard August 15 before the Honorable Judge Robert E. Richardson:
In a change of plea hearing in the case the State vs Robert E. Kilmer, 47, of Ronceverte, the defendant pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor offense of Prohibited Act, and waived his right to a presentencing investigation. Kilmer was sentenced to the regional jail for one year, fined $1,000, and court costs were imposed. Kilmer was given credit for time served. The state dismissed the felony charge in the indictment of Attempting to Operate Clandestine Drug Lab.
A non-jury trial is set for September 29 at 10 a.m. in the case the State vs Leroy Edwards Pfarner, 69, of Buckeye. Pfarner is charged with indecent exposure.
A sentencing and disposition hearing was held in the case the State vs Jo Ann Roake, 26, of Marlinton. Having competed Drug Court, the defendant withdrew her plea of guilty to conspiracy and pleaded not guilty to the same. The state asked the court to dismiss the felony charge. The plea was accepted by the court and the charge was dismissed.
