According to Circuit Clerk Connie Carr, the following cases were heard May 30 before the Honorable Judge Jennifer P. Dent:

Plea negotiations are ongoing in the case the State vs Mitchell E. Kramer, 46, of Slaty Fork.

A hearing on the State’s motion to revoke bond was held in the case the State vs Matthew J. Tuskan, 36, of Hillsboro, wherein Tuskan admitted to allegations in the motion. The court revoked his current bond, and reinstated him under his previous bond with the added conditions of home incarceration and Day Report.

The court granted admittance of personal text messages and a criminal log from the West Virginia State Police as exhibits in the State’s case against Anna Faye Sheets, 51, of Marlinton.

Plea negotiations are ongoing in the case the State vs Amanda Katherine Brewer-Long, 38, of Hillsboro. A change of plea hearing is set for July 11.

A change of plea hearing was held in the case the State vs Beckner John Chaplin, Jr., 40, of Hot Springs, Virginia. The defendant tendered a written plea agreement to the court, wherein he pleaded guilty to the lesser included offense, Count I of the indictment, attempt to drive while under the influence of alcohol, a felony. The court accepted Chaplin’s plea and the matter was referred to the probation department for a presentence investigation.

A pretrial conference was held in the case the State vs Gary W. McKenney, 68, of Marlinton, wherein defense counsel advised the court that her client is having trouble comprehending issues pertaining to his case. The court granted an oral motion for a competency evaluation, and asked that the motion be filed in writing. The matter is removed from the docket until a report is received.
