The following hearings were recently held in Pocahontas County Circuit Court before the Honorable Judge Patrick I. Via:

Charles Robert Calhoun, 39, of Marlinton, appeared by video from the Tygart Valley Regional Jail for a hearing on motion to revoke bond. The defendant acknowledged that he had violated the terms and conditions of his bond by using methamphetamine; and he waived his right to preliminary and evidentiary hearings. The court revoked the defendant’s bond. Defense counsel asked that it be reinstated, and the State objected. The court denied the request for reinstatement of bond at this time, but if the defendant considers inpatient or outpatient treatment for substance abuse, the court will reconsider the matter.

A remote status hearing was held in the case the State vs Roy Lynn Walker, 58, of Durbin, wherein the parties advised the court that they had a resolution but needed more time to complete the paperwork. The matter will be resolved in magistrate court. Walker was indicted on one count, harassment; one count, intimidation of and against public officers and employees; and three counts, indecent exposure.

Jonathan Keith Bennett, 35, of Marlinton, appeared for his arraignment hearing where he pleaded not guilty to the felony charge of failure to appear. PR bond of $5,000 has been posted, but the defendant remains incarcerated, related to other charges. He was remanded to custody.

William Ball, Jr., 43, of Logan, appeared for his arraignment hearing wherein he pleaded not guilty to one count, grand larceny; and one count, burglary. Bond was set at $15,000 cash/ surety but has not been posted. The defendant was remanded to custody.
