Charles Smith

Charles Edwin “Buck” Smith, age 85, of Dunmore, died Thursday, February 27, 2020, at Pocahontas Center in Marlinton.

Born August 19, 1934, at Valley Center, Virginia, he was a son of the late Loy Milburn and Mary Kathern Bird Smith.

Buck was a retired truck driver for Burns Motor Freight and was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim, Ralph and Junior.

He is survived by his daughter, Penny Lynn Ryder; sons, Charles “Buck” Smith, Jr. and Michael Edwin Smith; a sister, Sarah Puffenbarger, a brother, Delmas Smith; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was held March 1 at Green Hill Cemetery in Mill Gap, Virginia, with Pastor Mark Davis officiating. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Pocahontas Center, 5 Everett Tibbs Road, Marlinton, WV 24954.

VanReenen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
