Brenda Sue Rexrode Powers, 68, of Elkins, passed from this life Thursday, September 15, 2016, at home surrounded by her loving family and friends and under the care of Hospice Care Corporation.

Born Thursday, March 11, 1948, in Reisterstown, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Carl Rexrode and Frances Townsend Rexrode and Francis and Dovie Powers.

Brenda was a member of the Elkins Church of the Brethren and also attended Rivers of Living Water Church in Elkins.

She attended school in Maryland and obtained her GED in Randolph County. She had been employed as a waitress at Scottie’s Restaurant in Elkins and also as a sales clerk at the Kroger Gas center. Brenda enjoyed dancing and loved to cook. She played horseshoes and cornhole at family gatherings. Even though she had problems with her eyesight, she always scored. Brenda was known as the Wii Bowling Queen, being only one pin away from a perfect game.

She was married to Russell “Jerry” Powers who preceded her in death in 2001.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl “Butch” Rexrode; son-in-law, Donald “Stoney” Powers; and a great-grandson, Alexander Galford.
Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Donna Valencia, and husband, Tony, of Mill Creek, Carol Powers, of Elkins, and Amie Williams, and husband, Josh, of Montrose; four siblings, Nancy Hartman, of Pennsylvania, Linda Arbogast, of Valley Bend, Terry Rexrode, of Maryland, and Christine Martin, of Arizona; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Okarita Blake, Wanda Sharp and Joyce Maize; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held September 21, at 2 p.m., at Randolph Funeral Home with Assistant Pastor Nathan Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
