Brandon Lee Kelly, 39, of Marlinton, died Sunday, August 18, 2024, at his home.

Born September 24, 1984, at Low Moor, Virginia, he was the son of Tony Lee Kelly and Rita Kathleen Wilson Kelly, of Marlinton.

A 2003 graduate of Pocahontas County High School, he served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunner’s Mate for four years, being deployed twice for support on Navy ships. He later served in the Army National Guard for six years. Brandon was a Pocahontas County Deputy Sheriff for seven years, a U.S. Mail Carrier for the City of Marlinton for two years, served as Pocahontas County 911/Emergency Management Deputy Director for three years, worked at Denmar Correctional Center and then transferred to Anthony Correctional Center. He was a member of the Minnehaha Springs United Methodist Church.

On September 17, 2016, he married Kristen Elizabeth Nicholas Kelly, who survives.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Barbara Kelly, of Marlinton; son, Jesse Kelley, of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Staci Smith (Justin), of Marlinton; niece, Collins Elizabeth Smith; and nephew, Jackson Lee Smith.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2024, at Kimble Funeral Home in Marlinton with Kyna Moore officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service.

Inurnment at McElwee Cemetery will be private.

Memorials may be made in Brandon’s name to any PTSD organization.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Kimble Funeral Home in Marlinton.
