At the MOUNTAINEERS season opener at West Virginia University Saturday, a former Mountaineer and Durbin resident was honored during half time. The late Bruce Bosley, who played for Green Bank High School, WVU and the San Fransisco 49ers, was honored with the retirement of his jersey number, 77. At the ceremony, Bosley’s grandsons, Hunter, left, (wearing Bosley’s 49ers jersey) and Chase, right, (wearing Bosley’s 1955 WVU jersey) pose with WVU Athletic Director Shane Lyons who held the retired jersey. Also attending the ceremony were Bruce’s nephews, Jon Michael Bosley and Shawn Bosley, nieces, Julie Bosley Mead, Jody Bosley Morgan, Pattie Bennett and Sherry Cassell, and GBHS teammates Grey Cassell and George Triplett. Prior to the presentation, a three-minute reel of highlights of Bosley’s career was shown in the stadium. Photo courtesy of Jon Michael Bosley
