Bernice Ellen Hamed Taylor, age 91, of Princeton, formerly of Arbovale, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Princeton Health Care in Princeton.
Born April 6, 1923, at Green Bank, she was a daughter of the late Farris and Mattie Brown Trainer Hamed.
Bernice was a lifelong member of the Liberty Presbyterian Church at Green Bank. She was a secretary for the United States Coast Guard. Later, she was postmaster at Boyer, Arbovale, and Cass post offices.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence U. Taylor; an infant sister, Josephine Hamed; a sister, Blanche Sheets; and three brothers, Julian, Rockford and Kenneth Hamed.
She is survived by daughters, Victoria Horton, and husband, Will, of Princeton, Ella Taylor, of Arbovale, Nina Sue Payne, and husband, Lyle, of Century, and Mary Kay Ward, and husband, Charlie, of Volga; a son, William “Bill” Hamed Taylor, and wife, Susan, of Arbovale; grandchildren, Billy, Katie and Joseph Payne, William and Hamed Taylor and Taylor and Betsy Horton; and a great-granddaughter, Kenzie Payne.
Memorial service was December 19 at Princeton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Sears officiating.
A memorial service was held December 22 at the Liberty Presbyterian Church with Rev. William Cox officiating. Interment was in the Arbovale Cemetery.
