Barbara Jean Wooddell Eck, age 70, of Columbus, Ohio, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Saturday, February 6, 2016, at her home, following a valiant battle with cancer.
Born January 1, 1946, in Pensacola, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Brent and Gladys Wooddell.
Barbara retired from Chase Bank after a long career in the Wholesale Lockbox Accounting Department.
She was a devoted Christian her entire life and touched the lives of many people with her smile, generosity and sense of humor.
Barbara loved patio gardening and was especially fond of feeding the hummingbirds that visited her outdoor garden. She had many hobbies that included crocheting, crafting and interior design.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Edward Eck.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Eck Kelly, of Dublin, Ohio, and Deborah Eck, and fiancé, Bill, of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Aleck Kelly, Noah Johnson, Aaron Schumacher and Savannah Eck; siblings, Carolyn Eilertson, and husband, Sidney, of New Bern, North Carolina, William Wooddell, and wife, Lisa, of Corapeake, North Carolina, Sandra Willhite, and husband, Brian, of Hillsboro, and Cynthia Hogan, and husband, Michael, of Earleville, Maryland; and countless family members and friends who were blessed to know her.
Family will receive friends Thursday, February 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home. Funeral service is Friday, February 12, 11 a.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home with Pastor Audria Thomason officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
