Arthur Snead, Sr.

Arthur Kenneth Snead Sr., 75, of Dayton, Virginia, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020, at the home of his daughter in Bridgewater, Virginia.

Born November 15, 1944, at Crown Hill, he was a son of the late Marvin Shortridge and Ada Mae Snead Shortridge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Rogers Snead; a son, Dwayne Snead; step-son, Delford Smith; sister, Mary Lou Townsends; infant twins; and one grandson, Dalton James Smith.

Arthur was a coal miner, timber cutter, and was employed with Cargill for 19 years.

He is survived by three daughters, Candy L. Findley, and husband, Jim, of Durbin, Ada Marie Snead, and fiance, Rodney “Dean” Mallow, of Bridgewater, Vir- ginia, and Brenda Hedrick, of Quinwood; two sons, Arthur K. Snead Jr., and wife, Nora, of Thornwood, and Teddy Smith, and fiancée, Nancy Jackson, of Tazewell, Virginia; step-son, David Honaker, and wife, Cathie Honaker, of Harrisonburg, Virginia; two step-daughters, Elizabeth Adkins, of Leslie, and Tammy Turner, and husband, Rob, of Ronceverte; sisters, Dolly Kincaid, and husband, Charles, of Claremont, North Carolina, Drema Smith, of Ellenboro, North Carolina, and Cassie O’Brien, and husband, Dale, of Clintonville; brother, Howard Snead, and wife, Shirley, of Rainelle; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Thornwood Community Church with Pastor Donnie Curry officiating. Burial will follow in Lambert Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020, from 6 to 8 p. m. at Thornwood Community Church.
