Amy Widney

Amy Danette Widney, age 43, of Hillsboro, passed away March 19, 2020, in Huntington.

Born October 2, 1976, at Morgantown, she was a daughter of Harry Douglas Widney and Linda Jean Foe Simmons.

Amy was a 1994 graduate of Pocahontas County High School where she was a cheerleader, played in the band and ran track. She was active in 4-H All Stars. After high school, Amy attended Fairmont State College and Beckley School of Massage Therapy. She was a member of Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Harry and Dallas Widney, and maternal grandfather, Winfred Foe.

She is survived by her parents, Harry Douglas Widney (Kaye), of Mebane, North Carolina, and Linda Jean Foe Simmons (Eugene), of Hillsboro; maternal grandmother, Maxine Foe, of Cass; brothers, Evan Douglas Widney (Molly), of Hillsborough, North Carolina, David Michael Simmons (Allison), of Snowshoe, Dustin Eugene Simmons and Nathan Daniel Simmons, both of Hillsboro; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale, with Rev. Andy Rice officiating.

Amy’s ashes will be interred in Arbovale Cemetery.

Refreshments will be served at the funeral home following the service.

Masks are preferred. In addition we will adhere to Covid-19 rules and regulations.
