Amy Smith Mitchem, age 67, of Mingo, passed from this life Friday, August 10, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family and under the care of Mountain Hospice.

Born Saturday, June 9, 1951, in Huntington, she was a daughter of the late Lyle Crawford Smith, Sr. and Marjorie Caroline Marshall Smith.

Amy was a graduate of Venice High School in Florida. She graduated from Santa Fe Junior College in Texas with an Associate’s Degree as a dental hygienist.

She was an amazing artist and loved working with oils. She was an avid reader of Westerns. She was very mechanically inclined when it came to carpentry and maintenance around the farm. She loved taking care of her horse and other animals.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Cinnamon Jessee, and husband, Russell, of Charleston, Ry Philip Mitchem, and fiancée, Jill Rawls, of Outer Banks, North Carolina, and Spencer Marshall Mitchem, of Upper Mingo; a grandson, Knox Piatt Mitchem; and a brother, Lyle Crawford Smith, Jr., of Englewood, Florida.
