American Legion Post 117 held its annual dinner meeting April 4 at the Arbovale Community Center.

Three Post 117 members – Harold Crist, Herman Butcher and Dick Hiner – are World War II veterans.

Commander Hugh Geiger welcomed members and their spouses and guests.

Deputy Commander Rick Wooddell presented a program about the Great War (World War I) as well as information about Sgt. Alvin York, one of the most decorated soldiers of that war. The Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park is located in Pall Mall, Tennessee.
