Alfred Ervine

Alfred C. Ervine, age 78, of Green Bank, passed from this life Monday, September 14, 2015, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.

Born November 3, 1936, in Green Bank, he was a son of the late Donald C. Ervine and Vesta Belle Calhoun Ervine.

Alfred was a 1954 graduate of Green Bank High School. He worked at Sheets Garage from 1954 to 1974, when he became owner of Sheets Garage until his retirement in 2001. He received Oldsmobile’s highest recognition “Elite” award four years in a row. He served on the Board of Directors of First Citizens Bank in Marlinton since 1979. He attended the Arbovale United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Durbin Lions Club, Masonic Lodge #124, Scottish Rite, Beni Kedem Shrine Unit, American Legion, Loyal Order of the Moose, National Association of Legion of Honor and the Royal Order of Jesters, Charleston Court Number 111. He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962.

Alfred married Louise Migliaccio on August 12, 1962. She preceded him in death October 9, 2013.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence Ervine, Guy N. Ervine, William A. “Jack” Ervine and Dewey H. Ervine, Sr.; and three sisters, Lucille Ervine Sheets, Mildred Ervine Raines and Marie Ervine Crawford.

He is survived by a sister, Alice Ervine Miller, of Elkins; and many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren who will miss Alfred’s laughter, stories, smile, advice and encouragement.

Family will receive friends Friday, September 18, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale. Funeral service is Saturday, September 19, 2 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home with Pastors David Fuller and David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment will be in the Arbovale Cemetery with Military Honors by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps and Masonic Graveside Rites.
