A good day for biscuits

The 2017 Hudson Cream Flour West Virginia Biscuit Bake-off was sponsored by Stafford County Flour Mills, Hudson, Kansas, makers of Hudson Cream Flour products, and the Elk River Inn at Slaty Fork.

Judges were:  Kinsey Hamilton, with West Virginia Executive Magazine; Cindy Sandeno, board member of  Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau and US Forest Service Ranger, Marlinton District; Mary Willis, of  Elk River Inn and Restaurant; and locally known baker and cook Louise Barnisky

There were 21 entries in this year’s competition

Youth category:
First place: Sarah Barkley
Second place: Samuel Williams
Premier category:
First:  Owen Gragg
Second: Jake Faber
Third: Carol Holley
Master’s category:
First: Jean McClure
Second: Tina Barkley
Third: Goldie O’Quinn
People’s Choice:   Goldie O’Quinn  with her Strawberry biscuit with vanilla glaze
