FIELD NOTES
Mrs. Max Casto, who has been spending the last several weeks in Florida with her mother, Mrs. John Turner and sister, Mrs. A. H. Goe, has been lucky with her fishing equipment. On a recent day near Jensen Beach, she hooked and brought in a Blue Marlin that was eight feet long and weighed 100 pounds. This is a rare specimen for Florida waters. It is common to the waters around the Bahama Islands. This was the first Blue Marlin that has been caught on the particular boat from which Mrs. Casto was fishing in a period of 22 years.
Mrs. Casto is the mother of John Casto, of Marlinton, Conservation Officer of Pocahontas County.

How $25 virtually walked into the hands of a Marlinton restaurant proprietor is told by Conservation Officer John L. Casto. C. C. Kelley, owner of the Toll House, was chopping stove wood in the rear of his restaurant one night recently when, in the rays of his flashlight, he saw a dark form moving near his chopping block. Thinking it was a large rat, he picked up a stick and knocked it out. Then he discovered he had killed a nice mink. The pelt was sold for $25.
