Don Kiner had 20 ewes and 9 lambs killed and 4 or 5 ewes crippled last Wednesday on the head of Swago by two dogs.
They Did It Again!
The P. C. H. S. team won Monday night with a perfect score of 180 against 130 for Appomattox County High School on TV Klassroom Kwiz. They will return next Monday night. The challenger will be Holy Cross High School of Lynchburg.

I am writing to you because I know that your columns will be the best way of reaching the widespread community of Pocahontas County.
As leader of the English Exchange students who have spent three wonderful weeks in your county, I want to express publicly our appreciation of all that has been done for us. We are especially grateful to the host families and to the principal, teachers and students of Pocahontas County High School, who have gone out of their way to make us feel at home and to show us the many interesting features of your beautiful area.
From our television screens, we get a picture of an America riddled with crime, violence and drug abuse, and it has been a refreshing experience to stay in a community where the old Christian virtues still apply.
We are now looking forward to entertaining your own Exchange students in July and my only hope is that we can make their stay as enjoyable as ours has been.

Mrs. Anna Lucy Lange Beverage, 79, of Marlinton; a daughter of the late John W. and Mary E. Lange. Burial in the Cochran Cemetery.
Mrs. Siggie Lockridge Chestnut Ryder, 72, of Dunmore, a daughter of the late Thomas L. Chestnut and Mary J. Chestnut. Burial in the Dunmore Cemetery.
Dice Grimes, 79, of Greenville, Tennessee, formerly of Marlinton; born on Bruffeys Creek, he was a son of the late Rev. J. B. and Serene Bruffey Grimes. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Dice McLaughlin, 60, of Huntersville, burial in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
Ira Lee Jeffries, 52, of Deep Water; born at Maxwelton, a son of the late Millard F. Jeffries and Virginia Sue Trainer Jeffries… Mr. Jeffries was a World War II veteran, enlisting at the age of 17, and was one of 10,000 American soldiers captured on the Bataan Peninsula of the Philippines in the early days of World War II. Mr. Jeffries was one of the few survivors of the Bataan Death March… Burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
