Dear Editor:
Are there any good, God-fearing people out there who want change?
Personally, I have lost faith in our taxpayer-funded, big corporation influenced public education system.
I am committed to pursuing an alternative – a private Christian school.
Education has become a monopoly business. Competition is good and it will maybe help public schools go right someday down the road.
In the meantime, I see a Christian, faith-based learning environment with supporting curriculum creating better prepared America citizens.
When children can sit down together in a Green Bank elementary classroom to solve the equation 14 x 2/4 and come up with 6.9 something, and are told that is an acceptable answer leaves me shaking in my boots.
I wouldn’t fly in a plane engineered with Common Core math’s lack of precision. Exacting standards based on absolute truth is what can make for a successful flight.
Right answers is what can lead to a quality S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) program where students can be prepared for real world careers in high paying professions.
Right thinking makes for right decisions throughout one’s lifetime improving society as a whole.
Solid reading skills, based on classic literature, are essential. There will be plenty of time in one’s job pursuits to read manuals when one already knows how to read with critical thought.
I look forward to a classroom where history and the fundamentals of government from Adam to Obama and beyond are taught. You’ve got to know where you came from so you can plan for what’s ahead.
There’s a meeting Thursday, April 23, at 7 p.m. at the Dunmore Community Center for people like myself who want to explore starting a private Christian school in Pocahontas County.
