James A. “Jimmy” Sheets, Jr., age 62, of Port Republic, Virginia, formerly of Green Bank, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Born February 28, 1952, in Marlinton, he was a son of James Allen and Grace Grimes Sheets, of Green Bank.
Jim was a 1971 graduate of Pocahontas County High School. He was employed at Howes Leather Company and was the owner of J&J Service Station in Dunmore for many years. Other previous employment included Snowshoe Mountain Resort and his last employment was as a mechanic for Merchants Tire in Staunton, Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Debra, of Port Republic, Virginia; daughters Jessica Combs, and husband, Chantry, of Staunton, Virginia, and Lisa Sheets, of Green Bank; sons, Christopher Sheets, and wife, Suzie, of Staunton, Virginia, and Jonathan Sheets, of Green Bank; step-children, Angel Earhart, and husband, Tim, of Spotsylvania, Virginia, and Gerald Leslie, of Port Republic, Virginia; a sister, Brenda Aldridge, and husband, Harry, of Morgantown; a brother, Ronnie Sheets, of Green Bank; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces, Jennifer Woods, and husband, Bob, of South Carolina, and Ronda Sheets, of Roanoke, Virginia; and numerous cousins.
Funeral service was October 26 at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home with Pastor David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment was in the Arbovale Cemetery.
