Hillsboro High School
The Juniors have selected their play, “The Blundering Herd.” The characters have been selected and work has begun.
Our Hillsboro Red Devil football squad has had a very successful year so far, losing only two games to Marlinton Copperheads and Green Bank.
The Sophomores have initiated the Freshmen.
We are glad to have two new members of the faculty. They are Mrs. Julia Pitsenberger, Home Ec., and Frank Holstein, Coach.
Marlinton High School
Rain and mud couldn’t dampen the spirits of the Marlinton Copperheads when they racked up a score of 27-13 against the Meadow Bridge Wildcats. Roger VanReenen scored all four touchdowns and one extra point. Other extra points were made by Phillip Cain and Bobby Beverage.
Remember the Bluefield Park Central football game this Friday night. We are looking for a large crowd and a good game.
The Marlinton High School Homecoming Queen was chosen by the football boys last week. She is Mary Lee Shafer, daughter of Mrs. Mary E. Shafer and the late Walter Shafer. Mary Lee will be crowned at the Green Bank vs Marlinton game October 30.

Mrs. Frank Eiller and Mrs. Dale Wyant, of Akron, Ohio, have been visiting their sisters, Mrs. Carrie Morrison and Mrs. Nellie Powell. Mrs. Wyant has just returned from a three week tour to Europe.
Richard Cutlip, of Williamson, spent the night with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Cutlip, on the way to Pendleton County to hunt for a week.
Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Hull and daughter, Mrs. Benton Smith, visited Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Hill, in Richwood recently. Mrs. Hill is in poor health.

Mrs. Donald Vandevender left Sunday to spend some time visiting her daughter, Mrs. Ronnie Moses.

Mrs. Effie Lou Birdie Varner, 77, died at her home at Boyer Tuesday, October 20, 1964.
