Trapping
Five trappers are now at work in Pocahontas County in a Federal-State trapping program for rabies control. They are Ray Hefner, Clyde Campbell, Edgar Cales, Paul Cullers, and Paul Hilleary, and they will be trapping animals prone to carry rabies, foxes mainly, but also skunks and others. They will be working this month and next and ask farmers’ and landowners’ cooperation in this work.
Feeder Calf Show
The Annual County 4-H and FFA Feeder Calf Show will be held in the local stockyards on Saturday afternoon. The calves in this event will then move on to Jackson’s Mill for the State Show next week…

Break-In
Peggy’s Restaurant was broken into Monday night and $200 to $250 in money and merchandise was stolen. Some tools were also stolen from the State Road Quarry the same night.

Miss Norma and Ronnie Evans have returned to their home in Marlinton after spending a week’s vacation with their aunt, Mrs. Virginia Pullman, in New York City. They came all the way from New York to White Sulphur Springs alone. This is their first trip by train.
Mr. and Mrs. William Boggs, Jr., Mrs. Sanford Simmons and Inez Boggs, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Stewart and children, Miss Dorothy Pine and Mrs. Josephine Boggs attended the homecoming in Gap Mills on Sunday.
Mrs. Willie Ann Boggs spent the weekend with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gale Boggs and family.
Rev. and Mrs. Carl E. Boggs, Maurice Anati and Mrs. Sanford Boggs attended the singing convention in Beckley.
Mr. and Mrs. Houston Jefferson and daughter have returned to their home in Cleveland, Ohio, after spending their vacation with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Forest McChesney, of Brownsburg.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Sharp, of Marlinton, a daughter, named Drema Lee.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Derwood Blankenship, of Charleston, twin daughters, named Eleanor Moore and Ellen Stephany. The mother is the former Jean Moore, of Marlinton.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. John W. Hevener, of Columbus, Ohio, a son, John Mark. John is the son of Mrs. John U. Hevener, of Dunmore.

Laura Jane Galford, of Dumore, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Galford; burial in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Bertie Jane Hook, 82, of Mill Point; born at Stony Bottom, a daughter of the late George Dallas and Hannah Galford McLaughlin. She was the last of her family. Burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Virginia Ervine Lowe, 49, of Green Bank; born in Jenningston, a daughter of the late James Lee and Mary Etta Negrow Ervine. Burial in the Shinaberry Cemetery at Poage Lane.
Mrs. Nelson A. Bruffey, 68, of Aberdeen, Maryland; born at Hillsboro, a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Ellen C. Hollands-worth. Burial in the Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
Gilbert H. Overholt, 74; born at Hillsboro, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Overholt. Burial in the Maplewood Cemetery in Elkins.
Jacob Woodrow Shinaberry, of Takoma Park, Maryland; born at Clover Lick, a son of the late Charles and Georgia Poage Shinaberry. Burial in the Arlington National Cemetery.
