Buster Cleveland Thompson, age 66, of Marlinton, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born March 21, 1948 at Mt. Pleasant, Virginia, he was a son of the late Ernest Raymond and Mary Woolridge Thompson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Thompson and Carl Thompson.
Buster was of the Baptist faith and a construction laborer.
He is survived by two daughters, Julie Taylor and Nickie Thompson, both of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; two sons, Brian Massie, of Marlinton, and Buster Thompson Jr., of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; seven sisters, Carolyn Thompson and Nancy Thompson, both of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Mary Ann Thompson and Josephine Thompson, both of Virginia, Barbie Thompson, of South Carolina, Brenda Thompson, of Infield North Carolina, and Patsy Thompson, of Covington, Virginia; three brothers, James Thompson, of Roanoke, Virginia, Harvey Thompson, of Covington, Virginia, Gene Thompson, of Virginia; and 16 grandchildren.
Memorial graveside service was August 24 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington, Virginia, with Pastor Phillip Thompson officiating.
