Barbara Ann Woods, formerly of Marlinton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 9, at the home of her daughter in Staunton, Virginia.
Born March 15, 1931, at Huntington, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Letha Forbush Felix.
Barbara graduated from Huntington East High School and attended Wiseman College. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, and she was also active in her community. She loved to crochet blankets for her family, play bingo and spend vacations at the beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert N. Woods, whom she married January 26, 1952; an infant son, Michael David Woods; a brother, Paul Felix; and a sister, Leona Johnson.
She is survived by her sister, Alice Luellen, niece Natalie Pyles, and husband, Larry, all of Pauline, South Carolina; two sons, Gary K. Woods and Larry K. Woods, both of Marlinton; a daughter, Jo Oliver, and husband, Robert, of Staunton, Virginia. Barbara also leaves behind six grandchildren, Christopher Woods, and wife, Francess, and Joni Barlow, all of Marlinton, Jenny Oliver Jenkins, and husband, Dave, of Staunton, Virginia, Bethany Oliver Long, and husband, James, of Vernon Hill, Virginia, Ashley Oliver Franich, and husband, Justin, of New Market, Virginia, and Jared Oliver, and wife, Jenny, of Mountain Home, Idaho. Barbara also treasured her 10 great-grandchildren, Tristan Jenkins, Rowan Jenkins, Isabella Long, Ruby Long, Sophia Long, Matthew Long, Alexis Oliver, Robbie Oliver, Chloe Franich and Lydia Franich.
A private graveside service was held May 12 at the Dunmore Cemetery with Pastor Justin Franich officiating. Visitation and Celebration of Life is Saturday, May 17, 3 to 5 p.m. at VanReenen Funeral Home in Marlinton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local fire and rescue departments, senior center or Alzheimer’s organization. Barbara’s family would like to express deepest appreciation to her loving nurses and caregivers at Emeritus Assisted Living in Staunton, Southern Care Hospice and Home Instead Senior Care.
