4-H Camp Letters
County 4-H Camp letters were mailed April 29 and should have already been received by every 4-Her in the county. If you are a 4-H member and did not receive a camp letter, please call the Pocahontas County Extension Office immediately at 304-799-4852. All camp registration forms are due in the Extension Office by May 13. Any camp registrations received after May 13 will be placed on a waiting list, and these late registrations will be accepted only if bed space is available.

Livestock Quality Assurance Training
As part of a new requirement by the state 4-H and FFA organizations all youth with Beef, Dairy, Swine, Sheep, Poultry or Rabbit projects are required to attend an annual training to receive instruction on livestock quality assurance.  This training is mandatory and participants who do not complete the training can no longer complete the project. In-county training is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Marlinton Municipal Building.  If you have any questions please call the WVU Extension Office at 304-799-4852.

Educational conference on natural gas issues
Natural gas regulations and rights are at the forefront of the agenda for West Virginia University Extension Service’s third annual Enhancing Public Understanding of Natural Gas Issues conference.
The free, day-long conference takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Morgantown.  It will feature information regarding natural gas exploration in the Marcellus shale region. Topics include regulations regarding oil and gas, fire safety and prevention on well drilling sites, researching private property, mineral rights and disposal of drilling waste.

Lunch, break snacks and parking are free to attendees. Pre-registration is required by May 7; space is limited.
