Sandra Kay Gibson Ackerman, age 52, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, died Thursday, April 17, 2014.

Born January 29, 1962, at Summerville, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the later Sterl and Naomi Gibson; and a granddaughter of the late Philip Gibson and Verna VanReenen and Willie and Stella Gibson.

Sandy enjoyed playing softball, bingo and loved being with her grandchildren. She was an avid Carolina Gamecocks fan, who enjoyed watching games with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, William Christopher Ackerman; two sons, Chris “Bucky” Ackerman, and wife, Angie, and Stevie Ackerman, and wife, Allyson, all of Summerville, South Carolina; a daughter, Misty Driggers, and husband, David, of Goose Creek, South Carolina; four brothers, Floyd Gibson, and wife, Liz, of West Ashley, South Carolina, Lloyd Gibson, and wife, Rena, of Earleton, Florida, Boyd Gibson, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and Randy Gibson, and wife, Tammy, of Jedburg, South Carolina; father and mother-in-law, W. C. and Arnetta Ackerman, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; her loving grandchildren who knew her as “Umaw”, Olivia, Landon, Little D., Evelyn, Easton, Reagan and Bennie; her dog, “ZZ”; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral service was April 22 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel. Interment was in Dorchester Memory Gardens in Summerville, South Carolina.
