Pocahontas County High School FFA Forestry put their knowledge to the test in the State Forestry Competition at Coopers Rock September 13, and brought home another State Championship.
“The guys did a great job, and were all ranked in the Top 10 Individual category,” instructor Scott Garber said.
Brandon Puffenbarger was #1 in Individual Competition; Kyle Cohenour took the #2 spot; Mathias Solliday was ranked #5; and Jacob Jones was #8.
“I am very proud of these guys and the guys that helped push them in practice over the past few months to be the best they can be,” Garber said. “As a team, they came home as State Champions.”
This is the 26th state title for the Forestry Program – 18 in FFA Career Development Events and eight in 4-H. There have also been 20 individuals who have taken the #1 spot over the years in CDEs.
