EKG – Free with Sports Physicals
Pocahontas Memorial Hospital is pleased to offer sports physicals at no cost to the student through the Rural Health Clinic any day of the week with an appointment. Sports physicals are available on a walk-in basis on July 14 during the Annual Youth Health Fair. An EKG will also be offered free for athletes ages 14 to 18.
“The Standard of Care recommends that all athletes in this age range should have at least one EKG during their sports career,” PMH Chief Nursing Officer Kyna Morre said.
A pediatric cardiologist will review all EKGs. An EKG can detect any underlying cardiac abnormalities.
Kids of any age are invited to attend PMH’s Youth Health Fair on July 14 from 10 a.m. Until 1:30 p.m.
The Youth Health Fair is a day full of fun with games, prizes, free food, crafts and a helicopter landing.
In addition, special exhibits will be set up to encourage young people to lead a healthy lifestyle with stations focused on things like sun safety, drug prevention and healthy eating.
Various county organizations will be on hand with information about their services including the Marlinton Rescue Squad, Pocahontas County Health Department, Birth to Three, and the Pocahontas Prevention Coalition.
