Reon J. Lambert, age 86, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, went to be with his Lord Thursday, December 22, 2016, surrounded by his family.
Born in Durbin, he was a son of the late Rennie L. and Gertrude O. Lambert.
Reon spent his early years exploring the landscape around his home, as far as the rail line would allow. He studied and received degrees from West Virginia University, Ohio State University and West Virginia Institute of Technology.
He served his country in his younger years on a Navy minesweeper in Korea. He was director of vocational education in several school systems. He loved to hunt and fish for trout.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elaine Lambert; two sons, Scott Lambert, and wife, Donna, and Stephen Lambert, and wife, Sarah; eight grandchildren, Lorien, Grayson, Canon, Braden, Sheridan, Eric, Emma and Elizabeth; a sister, Ruth Bolyard; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Saturday, January 7, 2 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale. Interment will be in the Arbovale Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ashcake Volunteer Rescue Squad in Mechanicsville, Virginia; or the Bartow-Frank-Durbin Fire Department in Durbin.
