Marvel Lucille “Lydie” Markline, age 91, of Aberdeen, Maryland, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016, at the Senator Bob Hooper House in Forest Hill, Maryland, following a brief illness.
Born July 29, 1924, in Lobelia, she was a daughter of the late Nelson and Nina Hollandsworth Bruffey.
Lydie was one of eight children, and she attended Mt. Lebanon School, a one-room school in Lobelia, before moving to Havre de Grace, Maryland with her family in 1943. Once there, her father played matchmaker and introduced her to J. Edward Markline, whom she married June 30, 1948. They would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on June 30, 2016.
Lydie was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed caring for everyone around her. She enjoyed an especially strong relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. She was a wonderful example of how to live a Christian life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, James and John; and siblings, Nelson Bruffey, Jr., Gene Bruffey and Eudora Blevins.
Those left to honor Lydie and remember her are her husband, J. Edward Markline; sons, Joseph Markline, and companion, Susan Cooley, of Darlington, Maryland, and Jeffrey, and wife, Deborah, of Havre de Grace, Maryland; a granddaughter, Amy Crowl, and husband, Parker, of Street, Maryland; her beloved great-grandson, P. D. Crowl, of Street, Maryland; and sisters, Mary Walters and Martha “Peg” Carcirieri, both of Havre de Grace, Maryland, Betty Konopnicki, of Fairfax, Virginia, and Ruth Swindell, of Red Lion, Pennsylvania.
Funeral service was June 6 at Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Maryland.
