Boys and Girls in Service
Army Sergeant Ernest White, son of Elmer White, of Durbin, was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division in Viet Nam, March 18. The 22-year-old soldier attended Green Bank High School.
Samuel M. Arbogast, ADJ2, of the U.S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph M. Arbogast, of Mill Point, has completed thee months of schooling in Memphis, Tennessee, and four weeks of jet training in Oceana, Virginia. He is being transferred to Cecil Field, Florida.
Major William Conley, son of Mrs. Virginia Irvine, of Green Bank, currently assigned to the Pentagon, is being reassigned in June to MacDill A.F.B. Florida, for training in the F4-3 Phantom jet, with subsequent assignment to Viet Nam.
Colonel and Mrs. William McNeil and son, Scotty, have returned from a tour of duty in South America.
WOMAN’S CLUB
On April 1, Mrs. Fred Burns entertained the Marlinton Woman’s Club. Nineteen members, three honor- ary members and the following guests attended: Mesdames James Kerr, Kenneth Beverage, Sherman Moore, Arden Killingsworth, Clarence Smith, Wayne Bailey, Ben Morgan, Ralph Buckley, John Boswell, Kerth Nottingham, Fred Walker, R. F. Currence, Robert Jacobson, Lavina Johnson, Fred Burns, Jr., Larry Burns, Linda Cassell and Miss Peggy Smith.
An Easter musical program was then presented. Excerpts from the cantata, “The Seven Last Words of Christ,” by Theodore Du-bois, were sung. Soloists were Mrs. James Kerr, Miss Linda Cassell and Mrs. Ben Morgan, with Mrs. Wayne Bailey, Mrs. Ralph Buckley, Mrs. John Boswell and Mrs. Kerth Nottingham making up a chorus.
WEDDING
Roy – Shafer
The Stony Creek Presbyterian Church was the setting Friday evening, April 8, 1966, at nine o’clock for the marriage of Miss Mary Lee Shafer and Ronney E. Roy.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Mary Shafer and the late Walter Shafer, and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Roy.
Both are 1965 graduates of Marlinton High School. Ronney is now employed with the Telephone Company in Marlinton.
