MARLINTON FOOTBALL
The Marlinton Junior High Copperheads opened their 1976-77 season with a win over Diana by a score of 28-0. Some of the outstanding players on offense were Capt. Mike Doss, who scored three touchdowns; one on a kickoff return of 78 yards. Capt. John Barton scored four extra points on two conversions. Donnie Rose scored a touchdown on a pass from quarterback Sam Helmick.
The whole offensive line did a good job of blocking.
The defense did a good job keeping Diana from scoring.
The defense was led by Capt. Rick McCarty, with help from Ken Underwood, Lawrence Kiner, John Barton and Glenn Taylor
