Joe Roy killed an eleven point buck with a bow and arrow. It was a big deer and weighed 200 pounds hog-dressed.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Beverage and sons, Bobby and Wayne, spent the holidays with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Layton Beverage and sons, in Washington, D. C.
Miss Jean Burr, of Washington, D. C. spent her vacation with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Burr.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Walker and children, of Charleston, spent the weekend at Hillsboro, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Walker.
Mrs. Wayne Bailey and children, Janice, Cheryl, and Emmett, and Martha Kay Dilley, attended the Army-Navy football game in Philadelphia last weekend.
Mrs. Clarence Kellison, Miss Bettie Clay Sharp and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Moore visited their sister and aunt, Mrs. Clinton Ratliff and Mr. Ratliff, in Lebanon, Ohio, a few days last week.
Injured
San Antonio, Texas – Among the seven soldiers burned in a helicopter crash at Fort Benning, Georgia, and given specialized treatment Wednesday at the surgical research unit of Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, and in serious condition is Sergeant Darrell J. Dilley, 23, of Marlinton.
The helicopter, a CH34 Choctaw, was on a training mission when it crashed and burned Monday.

Joel Callison, of Beard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Callison, was one of four West Virginia 4-H Club members chosen to attend the National 4-H Dairy Conference in Chicago this week. Joel will represent the Holstein breed.

Mrs. Lillian M. May, age 87, of Beard; born in Marlinton, a daughter of the late John R. and Mary Ann Baxter Moore; a member of the Presbyterian Church. Burial in the Old Droop Church Cemetery.
Sanford Robert Simmons, age 47, of Waynesboro, Virginia; born at Watoga, a son of Mrs. Birdie McClure and the late Jacob B. Simmons. Burial in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
Odie Wilton Harouff, age 72; born at Marlinton, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harouff. Burial in the Mount Carmet Cemetery at Steeles Tavern, Virginia
Mrs. Annie L. McClintic, age 76, of Williamsburg, a member of Methodist Andrew Chapel. Burial in the Williamsburg Cemetery.
Sterl Yeager, age 83, of Hyattsville, Maryland; born at Marlinton; a son of the late Brown M. and Harriet Arbogast Yeager. Burial in Mountain View Cemetery beside the grave of an infant daughter.
