Leadership Development a key component for success
Administration, board and staff of Pocahontas Memorial Hospital take leadership training seriously. Each month, a host of training and leadership opportunities are available both online and through the hospital’s Training Center. In addition, four times per year, the leadership team attends an in-depth Leadership Development Institute (LDI).
This quarter’s LDI was held at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank November 4 and 5.
The leadership team participated in presentations, role plays and team builders. Presenters were all part of the leadership team, allowing them to hone their individual speaking and facilitating skills.
Presenters were Katie Brown, Cheryl Cain, Chad Carpenter, Edwina Garber, Kathy Irvine, Barbara Lay, Cecilia Quinonez, Terry Wagner and Susan Wilkins. A special guest was Bob Simmons, of NRAO.
On the last day of the LDI, NRAO Business Manager Mike Holstine gave a history of the facility and made a very special presentation to PMH CEO Barbara Lay on behalf of the leadership team. Unbeknownst to Lay, her co-workers had planned months in advance to name a star after her, to thank Lay for her leadership and incredible vision for PMH.
Pocahontas Memorial Hospital is committed to excellence in delivering compassionate healthcare and promoting healthy life styles. Leadership development is one way PMH strives to fulfill this mission.
