Skiing
Skiing at Snowshoe was excellent at the beginning of last weekend and about 1,500 were reported to be at the resort on Saturday. There was a good crowd Sunday in spite of rain. Monday a good snow came, closing schools, and lots of students took advantage of the special hospitality Snowshoe offered them.
Temperatures down to 12 below zero last Wednesday.

Pamela White, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max White, of Minnehaha Springs, Teresa Rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Rose, of Hillsboro, and David Cassell, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Cassell, of Cass, served as pages in the 62nd Session of the West Virginia Legislature January 16.

Julian M. Hamed was reelected as president by acclamation for a two-year term by the Pocahontas County Board of Education at its meeting on Monday, January 6, 1975.
New members, Dr. Ernest K. Shaw., Jr. and June W. Riley took the oath of office and are full-fledged members of the Board.
The following resolution was unanimously passed by the Board.
“Be it resolved that the Pocahontas County Board of Education expresses its thanks and appreciation to Dr. J. M. Mallow for 18 years of service, and M. B. Dilley for 14 years of service, as members of the Pocahontas County Board of Education. During their long and distinguished service, there have been many turbulent years and drastic changes in the Pocahontas County School System. Their knowledge and experience have been invaluable during these years of decision making, and it is with regret that we see their terms of office come to an end.”

John Carl Wooddell, 43, of Huntersville, a son of the late E. Clark and Bessie Taylor Wooddell. Funeral from the VanReenen Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery at Hillsboro.

Ezra Ellsworth Walker, 85, of Hillsboro, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David K. Walker. A veteran of World War I and a retired lumber appraiser and farmer. Funeral from the Hillsboro United Methodist Church with burial in the Emmanuel Cemetery.

Hunter Lee Siple, 66, died at Hot Springs, Arkansas. Born at Green Bank, a son of the late Joel W. and Nebraska Gibson Siple. A veteran of World War II and Korean Conflict. Burial in the National Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Henry Washington McNeel, 75, of Hillsboro. Born on the old McNeel homestead, he was a son of the late Joseph Samuel and Mary Curry McNeel. A veteran of World War I and charter member of the American Legion, having joined in France when the Legion was first organized. Funeral from the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with burial in the McNeel Cemetery.

Arnold Glenn Barkley, of Woodstock, Virginia. Born at Durbin, a son of Ronald Barkley and the late Lona Bodkin Barkley. Funeral service from the Dillinger Chapel with burial in the Zion Christian Church Cemetery at Maurertown, Virginia.
