Members of the middle and high school youth groups at New Hope Church of the Brethren in Frost hosted a Valentine’s Day dinner at the Arbovale Community Center Saturday.
The annual dinner is a fundraiser for programs and activities for the youth groups. This year, the group is planning to attend King’s Fest at King’s Dominion Amusement Park in Richmond, Virginia.
“Right now our goal that we’re funding is to go to King’s Fest,” parent Laura Solliday said. “It’s a big event with really famous people like tobyMac and a lot of really famous Christian bands.”
While parents helped with preparing the meal, the kids were the ones in charge of the atmosphere and catering to guests.
“The kids decorated, they put up the tables and they wait on everybody,” Solliday said. “They’re all dressed up super fancy to wait on the guests.”
The fundraiser attracted 120 people and, after costs, raised $1,300 for the youth groups.
Event organizer Lori Wayne said the groups will continue to do small fundraisers to reach their goal for the trip, which is the last weekend in June.
The youth group members who served the dinner are: Tory Beverage, Aaron Beverage, Garrett Coleman, Peyton Coleman, Kyle Wayne, Shawn Beverage, Phillip Green, Drake Warder, Charity Warder, P.J. Rittenhouse, Brady Jones, Jacob Jones, Sienna Bircher, Kira Bircher, Mileya Bircher, Matthias Solliday, Mason Solliday, Jennalea Meck, Noah Barkley and Savannah Beverage.
