A Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 2 p.m. Friday, January23, until 10 a.m. Saturday, January 24.
The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow, sleet and freezing rain for Pocahontas and Randolph counties.
Ice accumulation up to a tenth of an inch is possible at elevations of 3,000 feet or higher.
Snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is expected with additional accumulation in the higher elevations.
The storm is expected to reach the area after 1 p.m. with the heaviest snowfall between 5 and 8 p.m. Precipitation will change to freezing rain and some sleet before changing back to light snow after midnight. The snow will end by late morning on Saturday.
Winds out of the southeast at 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.
Temperatures will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s.
