The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow in the higher elevations in the mountains in northern West Virginia.
This warning is in effect for Pocahontas County.
Snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches is expected, with the heaviest of the snow falling Thursday night into Friday afternoon.
Winds out of the west at 15 to 25 MPH with gust up to 40 MPH along the ridges.
Blowing and drifting snow is expected.
The warning will be in effect from 1 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
