The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Pocahontas County which will be in effect from 4 p.m. Thursday, January 2, through noon Friday, January 3.
Snow, blowing snow and low wind chill temperatures are expected.
Snow accumulation of three to six inches.
Timing – light rain and snow this afternoon is expected to change to all snow late today, and become wind blown snow tonight.
Wind chills of -10 to -20 degrees are expected later tonight. These temperatures will make outdoor exposure dangerous, even in a short amount of time.
Travel should be restricted to emergency situations.
Winds will be out of the Northwest 15 to 20 MPH with gusts to near 50 MPH.
Temperatures will range from – 2 to 10 above zero.
Make preparations to ensure the comfort and safety of pets, and take precautions to prevent pipes from freezing.
