Over the past several months, I have received numerous phone calls from subscribers who are frustrated by the fact that, in some areas – even in bordering counties – it takes two or more weeks to receive their copy of The Pocahontas Times.
I have been in contact with various levels of the postal service in an attempt to find a solution to this problem.
I can assure our subscribers that The Pocahontas Times is on the dock at the Marlinton Post Office every Wednesday morning. The mail truck picks them up Wednesday evening, and what happens from there is anyone’s guess.
We do offer a digital subscription to The Pocahontas Times, which is available online every Wednesday at noon. The digital subscription also gives you access to past issues on pocahontastimes.com
Back to the mail…
Here is the most recent response I’ve received in my futile efforts to make the postal service more efficient:
Dear Jaynell Graham,
This is in response to your inquiry regarding your mail delivery service. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
I was disappointed to learn of the situation you have encountered with delayed mail. It is certainly not unreasonable for you to expect your mail to be delivered properly, and you have every right to receive better service.
Due to unprecedented package increases and limited employee availability, we are experiencing significant delays in delivery times across the country. Additionally, we are experiencing impacts in air transportation. Geographical areas are impacted differently and will have various levels of impact around the country. Between a much increased influx of parcels and a reduced workforce, our available employees are working around the clock to try and get the items processed. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to respond.
Sincerely,
