Twila Sue Hoover Shifflett, age 63, of Bartow, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Born May 22, 1950, at Bartow, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Burt and Violet Oxley Hoover.
Twila was a born-again Christian and attended the Frank Church of the Nazarene. She had been a seamstress for the sewing company plant in Monterey, Virginia, as well as a cook at the Hermitage Motel. Her love for gospel music involved her as a lead singer and guitar player for the Canaan Crusaders.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William H. “Bill” Galford; a sister, Wanda Lee Hoover Waybright; and brother-in-law, Alvy Melvin Waybright.
Family members left to cherish her memory are her husband, James H. Shifflett; a sister, Barbara Alice Hoover Sacks, and husband, Bruce, of Bethlehem, Georgia; a niece, Treana Dawn Waybright Carr, and husband, Brett, of Bartow; nephews, Michael Lee Waybright, and wife, Carola, of Arbovale, Timothy Doyle, and wife, Tonya, Greg Doyle and Billy Doyle, all of Georiga; and several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was January 25 at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with Pastor Gary Reynolds officiating. Interment was in Wilmoth Cemetery near Bartow. Pallbearers were Mike Waybright, Christopher Waybright, Tra-vis Waybright, Brett Carr, Spencer Carr, Brandal Carr and Doug Jones.
