The final trout stocking of the Greenbrier River in Marlinton for this spring will take place Friday morning, May 18.
The trout stocking is funded by local businesses and individual donations to the Greenbrier River Trout Stocking program.
In addition, $500 was donated by the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau, $100 by the Chamber of Commerce and individuals in memory of Larry Garretson, an avid fisherman and local business owner.
The truck is usually here around 10 to 10:30 a.m. to begin distributing the trout into the river.
Trout will also be tagged and gift certificates in exchange for the tags are generously sponsored by a number of local businesses and can be picked up at Appalachian Sport.
This is an excellent example of business partnership to enhance visitorship and economic impact to the community.
