Stanley Ray Carroll, Sr., age 61, of Stony Bottom, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at The Hospice House in Elkins.
Born September 9, 1953, at Estaline Valley, Craigsville, Virginia, he was a son of the late Delbert Lee and Mary Little Carroll.
He was employed by Beckwith Lumber Company as a fork lift operator. He enjoyed his job and the people he worked with on a daily basis.
Stanley, or “Ray” to most people, enjoyed NASCAR racing and the company of his children and family. He also learned through his illness that he enjoyed riding trains.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Carroll and Rodney Carroll; and a sister, Francis Carroll.
He is survived by two sons, Stanley Carroll, Jr., and wife, Crystal, of Stony Bottom, and Dennis Carroll, and wife, Anna, of North Carolina; two daughters, Lisa Cassell, and husband, Jason, of Cass, and Bridget Carroll, of Stony Bottom; eight siblings, James Carroll, of Massachusetts, Sarah Lebo, Roger Carroll, Dorothy Garber, Rosa Carroll, Shelby Carroll, Jackie Kelly and Chessie Dice, all of Virginia; five grandchildren, Ayden and Brycen Carroll, Jason, Jennell and Sierra Cassell; and 17 nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Friday, March 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lantz Funeral Home in Buckeye. Funeral service is Saturday, March 8, 1 p.m. at Lantz Funeral Home with Rev. Julian Rittenhouse officiating. Interment will be in Stony Bottom Cemetery.
