Each Christmas, Samaritan’s Purse sends millions of packed shoeboxes to children around the world through its program Operation Christmas Child. Many of these boxes have come from individuals, churches and other groups in Pocahontas County.
One of the shoeboxes ended up in the hands of Alex, a seven-year old in Rwanda, a country in East Africa. At the time, Alex was living in an orphanage, after losing his family in the mass genocide of 1994.
Come and meet Alex and hear his story Friday, May 5. He will be at the Community Wellness Center in Marlinton from 2 to 3 p.m.
Alex will also be at the First Friday event at Discovery Junction from 5 to 7 p.m.
