Raymond C. Thomas, Sr., age 88, of Marlinton, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Pocahontas Center.
Born November 26, 1926, at Mann, he was a son of the late Hugh and Pearl Waugh Thomas.
Raymond was a retired coal miner and a United States Army Veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hazel Thomas; a daughter, Belinda Stein; a sister, Ruby Thomas; and two brothers, Homer Thomas and Ralph Thomas.
He is survived by his daughters, Shelia Barr, and husband, William, of Leavittsburg, Ohio, Donna Fowler, and husband, Mike, and Robin Walton, all of Hillsboro; sons, Raymond Thomas, Jr., and wife, Angela, of Newton Falls, Ohio, David Walton, and wife, Kim, and Bill Walton, and wife, Sylvia, all of Hillsboro; sisters, Wanita Stover and Mildred Thomas, both of Kentucky, and Peggy Edwards, of Virginia; brothers, William Simmons, of Akron, Ohio, and Lonnie Thomas, Hugh Thomas and Dallas Thomas, all of Virginia; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was May 23 at VanReenen Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Felton officiating. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Pocahontas County Veterans Honor Corps.
