
This picture postcard shows part of the lumber town of Thornwood, W.Va. with a two-story house in the foreground and the lumber mill in the background. Utility poles and a split rail fence are visible near the house. A maturing apple orchard separates the house from the town. The postcard is addressed to Mrs. D. B. Canfield in Elkins, W.Va. Thornwood was originally called Dunlevie. It is located on the East Fork of the Greenbrier River, at the mouth of Little River, 5 miles east of Durbin. The mill at Thornwood closed in April 1920.
