The Winterburn Presbyterian Church was built by George Craig and Sons Lumber Company and given to the people of Winterburn “to own and to operate.” It was dedicated September 15, 1907. The Winterburn Chapter No. 319 of I.O.O.F. (Independent Order of Odd Fellows) used the second story as a meeting place. In 1918, the lumber operation finished, the mill went out, and the church was torn down. Winterburn is located five miles east of Durbin near Thornwood on the East Fork of the Greenbrier River.
